On the night before winning the Best Plus Size Category at the 2008 CILA Awards last month, Tia Lyn Lingerie treated and wowed guests with a full-fledged fashion show at the Star Lounge at the Chelsea Hotel in New York.
Set within the intimate setting of the lounge, eighteen models, including five plus-size models, showcased most of Tia Lyn's styles and how they really fit on a variety of different body types. "Buyers absolutely loved that," said Tia Lyn. "Our brand is about fashion that fits a full size range of women. It was really important for us to show our buyers that a style can look just as great on a plus size person as it does on a size small."
Tia Lyn's Signature Model, Amanda Mutchie organized a series of events to raise funds for the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation and walked 60 miles in 3 days for the cause. This charity catwalk was sponsored by Tia Lyn, The Star Lounge, Humboldt Merchant Services, Arrow Images, User Friendly Video and McPeteSez.
Attending boutique owners and members of the media purchased donated product along with raffle tickets with 100% of the proceeds donated to the Foundation. "I think doing things for charity, especially one tied in with our industry like the Susan G. Komen is really important," noted Lyn. With the success of the show, Lyn plans on more events throughout the year to raise awareness. "This is something we'll continue doing," said Lyn. "Our show in New York was incredibly successful and we really stepped out of the box. We showed our brand in a different light and showcased our styles on different body types to the buyers. This made a tremendous difference."
